Admission Requirements

Applicants to the BIOMS program should meet the minimum recommended GRE requirements of 1050 on combined quantitative and verbal scores and an undergraduate grade point index of 3.0 or higher. They are expected to have course experience in the areas of math (through calculus), anatomy/physiology, physics (2 semesters), and chemistry (2 semesters). They must then submit an admission application, the application fee, two official transcripts of previous college records, at least three letters of recommendation, and TOEFL scores (foreign students only) to the Office of Graduate Studies. If the student has not previously been accepted by an advisor and pending a successful review of the initial application materials, the application is circulated to all Biomechanics and Movement Science faculty in an effort to match the student with a faculty advisor. Faculty members tend to advise students whose background, goals and objectives are compatible with their own areas of research and funding. The student will then be admitted to the BIOMS program provided that they: 1) meet all admission requirements of the Office of Graduate Studies and the BIOMS program; 2) are successful in securing a faculty advisor; and 3) are approved by the BIOMS Executive Committee.
